Our Vision

Connect. Grow. Love.

Garden of Gethsemane Church of God in Christ was established in 1982. Our church is a faith-based organization and a part of one of the largest Pentecostal church organizations in the world, The Church of God in Christ International. Our organization was founded by Pastor Timothy L. Gaines with a community-based model to offer wrap around services to residents in the community. The Garden of Gethsemane’s focus over the years has been community-centered by providing services and programs to the youth, elderly, single parents and the underserved population.

Throughout the years we have engaged in several community based projects such as the Angel Tree Foundation, which provides gifts to the children of incarcerated parents. Through various times of the year we sponsor our “Each One, Reach One” feeding program to residents in P.G. County and D.C. communities in our local area. Our organization is in sync with the “No Child Left Behind” campaign and we help to push that campaign with our annual “Back 2 School Supply Drive”. Through this initiative we have been able to help hundreds of children and youth in our local community to get their proper supplies for school. Our goal is to continue to create programming that connects our community to vital resources, helps them to grow holistically, and allows them to build a loving relationship with God, themselves, and their community.

What We Believe

THE BIBLE

We believe the Bible to be the inspired and only infallible written Word of God.

THE trinity

We believe that there is only One God, eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son and, God the Holy Spirit.

THE rapture

We believe in the blessed Hope, which is the rapture of the Church of God, which is in Christ, at His return.

Repentance

We believe that the only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the precious Blood of Jesus Christ.

Salvation

We believe that regeneration by the Holy Ghost is absolutely essential for personal salvation.

The POWER OF PRAYER

We believe that the redemptive work of Christ on the Cross provides healing for the human body in answer to believing prayer.

The holy spirit

We believe that the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, according to Acts 2:4, is given to believers who ask for it.

Sanctification

We believe in the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a holy and separated life in the present world.
